Gene Green was elected to the U.S. House in 1992 with 66 percent of the vote, defeating Republican Clark Ervin.
He defeated Republican Harold Eide in 1994 with 73 percent. Green won again in 1996 defeating Republican Jack Rodriguez with 68 percent of the vote.
In 1998, Green was re-elected without major party opposition.
He was re-elected in 2000 with 73 percent of the vote. In 2002, he was re-elected with 95 percent of the vote.
He had no major party opposition in 2004.
Green served in the Texas House, 1972-84, and the Texas Senate, 1985-92.
