John Halstead was born in Hartford, Conn., and raised in Wethersfield, Conn. He earned his bachelor's degree and Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut. He also holds a master's degree from Boston College.
A stock market analyst, Halstead works as a private investor and editor of "The Halurgite Investment Newsletter."
He is also an assistant professor of finance at Southern Connecticut State University.
Halstead is a member of the Wethersfield Republican Town Committee and serves on the town Board of Tax Review.
