Biography:

Jeff Hardenbrook was born in 1958 in Piqua, Ohio, and now lives in Dayton. He graduated as valedictorian from Covington (Ohio) High School in 1977, and received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1983. He worked in Washington, D.C., for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Electrification Administration.

Hardenbrook and his wife, Jill, moved to Botswana, Africa, through a church mission and helped a small tribe build a new village. He moved to Dayton in 1990 and later took a job with Montgomery County as a caregiver in residential homes through the Stillwater Residential Center, which serves people with mental or developmental disabilities.

Hardenbrook and his wife founded the Interfaith Hospitality Network, which helps homeless families live temporarily in houses of worship while they waited for housing. He also works as an elementary school substitute teacher in Dayton and suburban Northmont.

Hardenbrook and his wife have three children.


Past Campaigns:

Jeff Hardenbrook is making his second run for Congress. He lost in 2002 to incumbent Republican Rep. John Boehner, 71 percent to 29 percent.

Hardenbrook lost an election for the Dayton school board in November 2001. He had no opposition in Ohio's March 2, 2004, primary election for the 8th District.
