Biography:

David Hernadez was born in Los Angeles and grew up in the Lincoln Heights section of the city. When he was 7, his family moved to North Hollywood.

After graduating from high school in 1966, he joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard aircraft attack carriers off the Vietnam coast, where he helped prepare planes for their missions.

After the Navy, he was a member of the Los Angeles Police Department and then entered the insurance business. Since 1989, he has run his own insurance adjustment business.

Hernandez and his wife Debi reside in Valley Village, Calif., and have four children.


Past Campaigns:

In 2002, David Hernandez lost to incumbent Democratic Rep. Howard Berman, who won with 71 percent of the vote.
