Andrew Horning won the GOP nomination for the 7th District seat by capturing about 70 percent of the vote and defeating financial consultant Bob Croddy.
Before he switched to the Republican Party in 2003, Horning ran for several offices as a Libertarian, including state representative in 1996, Indianapolis mayor in 1999, governor in 2000 and the 7th District congressional seat in 2002. He received 4 percent of the vote in the mayor's race, his best showing.
