Biography:

Sue W. Kelly was born in Lima, Ohio, and resides in Katonah, N.Y. She received a bachelor's degree from Denison (Ohio) University in 1958, and a master's degree in health advocacy from Sarah Lawrence College in 1985. She has been a biomedical researcher, schoolteacher, real estate rehabilitation, professional patient advocate, congressional aide and now runs a real estate rehabilitation business.

She was elected to the U.S. House in 1994, and re-elected in 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2002. Kelly and her husband, Edward, have four children.


Past Campaigns:

Sue Kelly was elected to the U.S. House in 1994 with 52 percent of the vote, defeating Democrat Hamilton Fish Jr., son of former Republican Rep. Hamilton Fish. She was re-elected in 1996 with 46 percent of the vote, defeating Democrat Richard Klein. Kelly was re-elected in 1998, defeating Democrat Dick Collins with 63 percent of the vote. She received 61 percent of the vote in 2000 to defeat Democrat Larry Otis Graham in the 2000 general election.

In 2002, she defeated Democrat Janine Selendy with 70 percent of the vote.
