Biography:

Jack Kingston was born in Bryan, Texas, and resides in Savannah, Ga. He attended Clarke County (Ga.) public schools and earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Georgia in 1978.

Kingston sold agribusiness and commercial insurance throughout rural Georgia before he was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives, where he served from 1984 to 1992.

He was first elected to the U.S. House in 1992 is in his 6th term. Kingston and his wife, Libby, have four children.


Past Campaigns:

Jack Kingston was elected to the Georgia House in 1984 with 60 percent of the vote. He was unopposed in 1986 and 1988. In 1990, he won re-election with 72 percent of the vote. He was re-elected to the U.S. House in 1992 with 57 percent of the vote, defeating Democrat Barbara Christmas.

He was re-elected in 1994 with 76 percent of the vote, defeating Democrat Raymond Beckworth. In 1996, he was re-elected with 68 percent of the vote, defeating Democrat Rosemary Kaszans. Kingston won re-election in 1998 without opposition.

In 2000, he won re-election against Savannah lawyer Joyce Griggs, a Democrat, with 69 percent of the vote.

He was re-elected in 2002 over Democrat Don Smart.
