Biography:

Ben Konop was born in 1976 in Toledo and attended public schools there, graduating from suburban Ottawa Hills High School. At age 17, he was a page for U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur, a Toledo Democrat, and first became interested in politics. His interest intensified while he studied history at Emory University in Atlanta.

After working as an intern for Kaptur in 1995, he enrolled in law school at the University of Michigan. After graduating in 1999, Konop practiced civil litigation in Washington, D.C., until he decided to run for Congress in 2004 and moved to Ada, Ohio.

Konop is not married and has no children.

This is Konop's first run for elective office. He had no opposition in Ohio's March 2, 2004, primary election for the 4th District.
