Biography:

Rick Larsen was born and raised in Arlington, Wash., and now lives in Everett. After attending local public schools, he earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Pacific Lutheran University and a masters degree in public administration from the University of Minnesota.

He won a seat on the Snohomish County Council in 1997, and currently serves as chairman. Larsen was public affairs director for the Washington state Dental Association for six years after working as a research analyst for the Port of Everett from 1990-91.

He and his wife, Tiia, have two sons.


Past Campaigns:

Rick Larsen won a seat on the Snohomish County Council in 1997, beginning his term in 1998.

He ran unopposed and won the Democratic nomination for Washington's 2nd District House seat in the September 2000 primary, pulling in 46 percent of the vote compared to Republican challenger John Koster's 49 percent. He was elected in 2000 with 50 percent of the vote.

In 2002, he was re-elected with 50 percent of the vote.
