Biography:

Daniel Mathias was born in St. Croix Falls, Wis., but grew up in Bloomington, Minn., where he graduated from high school in 1983. He attended college at Golden Valley Lutheran for three years, then transferred to the University of Minnesota to finish his undergraduate degree in Jewish studies.

Mathias was married in 1988 and he and his wife now have eight children ranging in age from 1 to 13. He works as a courier driver and has taught college-level Hebrew and Greek.


Past Campaigns:

Daniel Mathias is running for Congress for the second time. In 2002, he lost to Democratic Rep. Martin Sabo. He received 25 percent of the vote to Sabo's 67 percent. He has the endorsement of the local Republican Party, and, for now, doesn't have a primary challenger.
