Biography:

Thaddeus McCotter was born in Detroit, Mich. in 1965. His father and mother were public school teachers who moved to Livonia in 1971 where McCotter continues to live with his wife Rita, a nurse, and their three children in elementary school. McCotter was a high school football star who finished first in his class at the University of Detroit in 1987 and went on to get a law degree at the university in 1990.


Past Campaigns:

In his first run for office in 1989, Thaddeus McCotter won an election for the Schoolcraft Community College Trustees.

In 1992, he won a seat on the Wayne County Commission. He was elected to the Michigan Senate in 1998.

In 2002, he won a seat in the House with 57 percent of the vote.
