Biography:

Michael R. McNulty was born in Troy, N.Y., and resides in Green Island, N.Y. He graduated from College of the Holy Cross in 1969. He was elected town supervisor of Green Island in 1969. In 1973, he helped his father, John J. McNulty, in his successful bid for sheriff of Albany County. He became mayor of Green Island in 1977 and served in that post until his election to the state Assembly in 1982. He was first elected to the U.S. House in 1988. McNulty and his wife, Nancy Ann, have four children.


Past Campaigns:

Michael McNulty was elected Green Island, N.Y., supervisor in 1969, and became mayor of Green Island in 1977. He served in the state assembly, 1982-1988. McNulty was elected to the U.S. House in 1988 with 62 percent of the vote, defeating Republican Peter Bakal. He has never been seriously challenged in the Democratic district.

He defeated Republican Charles Rosenstein in 2002 with 75 percent of the vote.
