Biography:
Born in Apex, N.C., Jonathan Menefee is the sonof a diesel mechanic and a postal carrier. The family moved to Chesapeake, Va., when he was 10. He and his two brothers are involved in the family's heavy material hauling company, Puryear Trucking Co.
Menefee graduated from Western Branch High School and enlisted in the Marine Corps. He was medically discharged after an injury and enrolled in Catawba College, where he received a bachelor's degree in history and English with a concentration in creative writing.
At Catawba, he served three years in the Student Government Association. After a year of working for the family business, Menefee enrolled in the McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, Calif.
