Biography:

A native of Lake Charles, La., Willie Mount graduated from Lake Charles High School and received her bachelor's degree in business administration from McNeese State University.

A former small business owner, she was elected to the state senate in 1999 after serving more than six years as mayor of Lake Charles.

Mount is serving her second term in the state senate and chairs the Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Committee.

A former small business owner, Mount has been active in a variety of civic and community betterment projects. She is pastPresident of the Louisiana Conference of Mayors and served on the Executive Boards of the Louisiana Municipal Association and Council for a Better Louisiana.

Mount is married to Benjamin Mount, an attorney.
