Biography:

Jerrold Nadler was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and resides in New York City. Nadler attended a yeshiva in the Crown Heights section, then the elite Stuyvesant high school. He received a bachelor's degree from Columbia University in 1970, and a law degree from Fordham Law School in 1978.

He was admitted to the New York bar but did not practice. He entered Democratic Party politics to oppose the Vietnam War, winning a district leadership in 1969. He served as a state Assemblyman, 1976-92. He was first elected to the U.S. House in 1992.

Nadler and his wife, Joyce Miller, have one son.


Past Campaigns:

Jerrold Nadler served in the New York Assembly, 1976-92. He was first elected to the U.S. House in 1992 with 81 percent of the vote, defeating Republican David Askren. He has cruised to re-election every year since.

In 2002 he defeated Republican Jim Farrin with 74 percent of the vote.
