Biography:
Tom Price is a surgeon who was born and raised in Michigan, but settled in the Atlanta suburbs after completing his medical residency at Emory University.
He received his bachelor's degree and medical degree from the University of Michigan.
Price settled in Roswell, Ga., a well-to-do suburb north of Atlanta, and started an orthopedic surgery practice in the 1980s. By the mid-1990s, the practice was the largest private orthopedic practice in the country.
He was first elected to the state Senate in 1996.
Price and his wife, Elizabeth, have one son, Robert.
