Biography:

Simon Pristoop was born in Baltimore and lives in Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., with his wife, Maria, a native of Puerto Rico, where Pristoop once worked.

Pristoop is a physicist retired from the defense industry where had had worked on radar, sonar, missiles, computers and other military gear. While living in Prince George's County, Md., Pristoop chaired the county Board of Administrative Appeals and Board of Zoning Appeals and was chief judge of the Appeals Tax Court.

He has a bachelor of science degree in physics from the University of Maryland.

Pristoop and his wife have four children.

Simon Pristoop is running for Congress for the first time in Florida's 15th District against incumbent Rep. Dave Weldon, R-Melbourne. Pristoop previously ran for county commissioner in Prince George's County, Md., but was not elected.
