Biography:

Mike Rogers was born on June 3, 1963, and raised in Livingston County, Mich. He went to Adrian College, where he got a bachelor's degree in sociology and criminal justice in 1985.

While at Adrian, he attended the University of Michigan as a member of the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps. After graduation, he entered the Army, ultimately reaching the rank of first lieutenant and serving as a Company Commander in a rapid deployment unit.

Following his service in the Army, Rogers and his brothers opened a construction firm, E.B.I. Builders, which one of his brothers now runs. Rogers went to the FBI Academy, where he graduated at the top of his class. He was assigned to the FBI field division in Chicago, working in the bureau's organized crime unit. He then returned to Livingston County and made his first bid for political office in 1994, winning a seat in the state Senate.

He and his wife, Diane, have two children.


Past Campaigns:

Mike Rogers won his first political campaign in 1994, a seat for the Michigan Senate that he was re-elected to in 1998.

In 2000, he won with a narrow margin, just over 100 votes to Democrat Dianne Byrum. They each got 49 percent of the vote.

He was re-elected in 2002 with 68 percent of the vote.
