Biography:

Mike Ross was born on Aug. 2, 1961 in Texarkana, Ark. He graduated from Hope High School, in the hometown of former President Clinton and Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. Ross graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a bachelor's degree in political science.

He was elected to the Nevada County Quorum Court in 1982 and served until 1985, when he became chief of staff for then-Lt. Gov. Winston Bryant. He served as director of Bryant's Youth Suicide Prevention Commission.

He and his wife, Holly Ross, own a pharmacy and health equipment company in his hometown of Prescott. They have two children.


Past Campaigns:

Mike Ross was elected to the state Senate at age 28, to a two-year term after reapportionment. He was re-elected in 1992 and in 1996.

He beat incumbent Jay Dickey in 2000 by two percentage points (51 to 49) for a seat in the House. He was re-elected in 2002. He was unopposed in 2004
