Biography:

Adam Schiff was born in Framingham, Mass., and lives in Burbank, Calif. He attended Stanford University and received his bachelor's degree in 1982. He graduated from Harvard Law School in 1985.

Schiff became a criminal prosecutor with the U.S. attorney's office in 1990, winning all of his cases. In 1992, Schiff was chosen by the Department of Justice to aid the government of the Czech Republic in reforming its criminal justice system. He was elected to the California state Senate in 1996 and won a seat in the U.S. House in 2000.

Schiff and his wife, Eve, have a daughter and son.


Past Campaigns:

Adam Schiff was elected to the California state Senate in 1996, defeating Republican Paula Boland 51 percent to 44 percent. He was re-elected in 1998.

Schiff upset GOP incumbent James Rogan in the 2000 election with 53 percent of the vote. He was re-elected in 2002.
