Biography:

John B. Shadegg was born in Phoenix, where he still resides. He received a bachelor's degree in political science and a law degree in 1975 from the University of Arizona.

Shadegg served in the Arizona Air National Guard, 1969-75. He was a special assistant in the Arizona Attorney General's office and served as a special counsel to the Arizona House Republican Caucus. He later worked in a private law practice.

He was first elected to the U.S. House in 1994.

Shadegg and his wife, Shirley, have two children.


Past Campaigns:

John Shadegg was elected to the U.S. House in 1994, defeating Democrat Carol Cure with 60 percent of the vote. In 1996, Shadegg was re-elected with 67 percent of the vote, defeating Democrat Maria Elena Milton. He was elected to a third term in 1998, defeating Democrat Eric Ehst with 64 percent of the vote.

He won re-election in 2000, against Democratic candidate Ben Jankowski of Phoenix, with 63 percent of the vote.

In 2002, he was re-elected with 66 percent of the vote, defeating Democratic candidate Charles Hill of Phoenix.
