Biography:
Michael Thamm was born in Cuero, Texas, and still lives there.
He earned a math degree from the University of Texas in 1983.
After college he returned to Cuero to work with his family's plumbing business, which he bought from his father in 1987.Thamm was elected to the Cuero City Council in 1992 and was elected mayor in 1994, 1996, and 1998.
In 2000, he was appointed by then-Gov. George W. Bush to the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, which regulates the plumbing industry in Texas. He also served on the Central Texas Recycling Association from 1994-2002.
Past Campaigns:
In the spring of 2004, Michael Thamm received 61 percent of the vote in the GOP runoff for congressional District 15, defeating Alexander Hamilton.
Thamm was elected to the Cuero City Council in 1992 and was elected mayor in 1994, 1996 and 1998.
