Biography:

Michael Turner was born in 1960 in Dayton, Ohio, and lives in nearby Centerville. He attended Belmont High School and graduated from Ohio Northern University with a degree in political science. He earned a law degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and his master's in business administration from the University of Dayton.

Turner served for two terms as mayor of Dayton, 1994-2002. He was elected to the U.S. House in 2002.

Turner practices Taekwondo, a martial art, and at one time was part-owner of a Taekwondo school. He and his wife, Lori, have two daughters.


Past Campaigns:

Michael Turner was elected mayor of Dayton in 1994 and served two terms before he was defeated in 2002 by Democrat Rhine McLin.

Turner defeated newspaper executive Roy Brown and businessman Greg Hunter in the May 2002 Republican primary for the 3rd Congressional District. He defeated Democrat Rick Carne in the November 2002 election, winning 59 percent of the vote. He had no opposition in Ohio's March 2, 2004, primary election for the 3rd District.
