Biography:

Patty Wetterling received her bachelor's degree in math science from Minnesota State University-Mankato. She worked as a high school math teacher until 1989, when her son Jacob was abducted by a masked gunman. He remains missing.

In 1990, Wetterling and her husband Jerry co-founded the Jacob Wetterling Foundation, which helps families of missing children and conducts education campaigns on child abduction and sex abuse.

Wetterling also helped establish a national parents support group called Team H.O.P.E. and has worked as a consultant with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention and Fox Valley Technical College.

She has worked as an advocate for sex offender registration legislation at the state and national levels.

Wetterling and her husband have four children, including Jacob.
