Biography:

Lawrence Wiesner was born in San Francisco in 1943 and grew up in the Bay area. He finished high school in 1961 and joined the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1961 to 1965.

Wiesner returned to school and earned a business degree from San Francisco State in 1969. He attended graduate school at San Francisco State but left before obtaining a degree.

Wiesner started working as an accountant in 1970. He then joined a construction company in San Leandro, Calif., where he worked for 13 years. He left the firm in 1986 and opened an accounting company.

Wiesner has been married to his wife, Raylene, for 18 years. He has five children from a previous marriage and two children from his second marriage.


Past Campaigns:

Wiesner ran in the Republican primary in 2000 but lost to Jim Chase. He was unopposed in the 2002 primary but lost the general election to incumbent Mike Thompson with just 32 percent of the vote.
