Biography:

Lynn Woolsey was born in Seattle, and lives in Petaluma, Calif. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of San Francisco in 1980.

Woolsey worked as human resources manager for Harris Digital Systems of Novato, Calif., 1969-80. Woolsey was active in several environmental and women's groups. She served on the Petaluma city council, 1984-93, and ran a personnel services company. She was first elected to the U.S. House in 1992.

She is divorced and has four grown children.


Past Campaigns:

Lynn Woolsey was elected to the U.S. House in 1992 with 66 percent of the vote defeating Republican Bill Filante. She was re-elected in 1994 with 58 percent, defeating Republican Michael Nugent.

In 1996, she was re-elected with 62 percent of the vote, defeating Republican Duane Hughes. She won re-election in 1998 defeating Republican Ken McAuliffe with 58 percent of the vote.

Woolsey beat McAuliffe again in 2000, this time with 64 percent of the vote. She was re-elected in 2002, defeating Paul Erickson with 67 percent of the vote.

Woolsey was elected to two terms on the Petaluma City Council, serving 1985-92.
