Biography:

Jim Holt was born in 1965 in Camden, Ark., and raised in the Northwest part of the state. He now resides in Springdale.

He joined the military in 1987 and served in the U.S. Army Joint Intelligence Operations at the National Security Agency under the Reagan, Bush and Clinton administrations.

He was ordained as a minister in 1996 through the Southern Baptist Church.

In 2000, he was elected to the state House of Representatives, where he served a single two-year term. He was elected to the state Senate in 2002.

He and his wife, Bobye, have 8 children.
