Biography:

Born in Brooklyn, Frank Barbaro graduated from Boys High School in Bedford-Stuyevasant. He served as a seamen first class in the Navy from 1946-1948, stationed in the Meditarranean.

He returned to New York and earned a bachelor's degree from New York University. Barbaro then worked 15 years as a longshoreman before taking classes at Brooklyn Law School at night. He passed the bar in 1966 and worked for a labor lawyer before opening his own practice in 1970.

He was elected to the state assembly in 1972 representing Bensonhurst and served until 1996.

He was elected to the New York Supreme Court in Brooklyn in 1997 and retired in 2003.
