Biography:
Bill Manger first sought public office in 1997, when he upset a two-term incumbent for a seat on the Southampton village board.
In 2000, he served as an adviser to Rep. Rick Lazio during the congressman's failed Senate race against Hillary Rodham Clinton. He then was appointed by the Bush administration to work at the U.S. Department of Transportation as a senior policy adviser in the maritime administration.
He resigned that position earlier this year to run for Congress.
He has a bachelor's degree from Trinity College in Hartford, Conn. and a masters in business administration from Columbia University.
He also has worked in the financial services industry as a consultant specializing in helping small businesses.
