Biography:
Richard Morrison was born in Longview, Texas, on July 4, 1967, and moved with his parents to Liberty, about 30 miles east of Houston, when he was 1.
He went to Liberty High School, then Baylor University and South Texas College of Law, where he received his law degree. He spent seven years working with Blackburn & Carter, an environmental public interest law firm based in Houston, before leaving setting up his own practice in Sugar Land, a southwest Houston suburb where he lives with his wife of 10 years, Allyson, and their four children.
Morrisons parents went to school with Mark White, who would become a Democratic Texas governor, and Price Daniel Jr., son of another Democratic governor. Daniel Jr. was his fathers roommate. This is his first political race. He defeated Erik Saenz in the March primary to win the Democrat nomination to challenge incumbent Republican Tom DeLay in November.
