Billy Creech grew up in Johnston County, N.C., where he says his parents taught him "the importance of faith, family, community, and hard work, and the difference between right and wrong."

Creech and his wife, Donna, live in Clayton, where he owns and operates Swift Creek Grading.

Creech is an eight-term veteran of the state House of Representatives, where he has been a strong supporter of gun rights and lower taxes.

Creech also served in the U.S. Army Reserves and has been a member of the Clayton Civitan Club, Johnson County Farmers' Home Administration Committee and has been on the advisory board of Heritage Bank.

Past Campaigns:

A veteran of state politics, Billy Creech won eight terms in the state House before redistricting put him in the same district as his conservative Republican ally Leo Daughtry and Creech decided to run for Congress.

In the 2004 GOP primary, Creech defeated political newcomer Robert Rogan of Raleigh with about 80 percent of the vote. He faces four-term Democratic incumbent Rep. Bob Etheridge in the November general election.
