Biography:

Matthew Brennan was born in New York City and raised in Rockland County, N.Y., where he attended public schools there. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1973 to 1975, then attended New York University, where he graduated in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in business.

He briefly worked on Wall Street, then followed his father and grandfather into the New York Police Department, where he spent 20 years on patrol. He retired from the force in 2001 and now works in security at the Indian Point nuclear plant.

Matthew Brennan lost a 2003 race for town councilman in Clarkstown, N.Y.

He was uncontested in getting the Republican nomination for the U.S. House race.
