What matters most is providing all D.C. children with an excellent education in safe, well-functioning schools. Improving D.C.'s schools can be boiled down to four factors: a budget that is allocated thoughtfully, excellent teachers and principals, high expectations for all students, and facilities that are conducive to learning. My plan focuses on responsible management and accountability for results, including a data system that tracks expenditures. It's not sexy, but it is critical to reigning in spending, redirecting misplaced funds to classrooms, and restoring confidence in DCPS."
