It seems to come earlier each year doesn't it? You know what we mean. That little buzz of holiday anticipation.
Christmas. Hanukah. Kwanzaa. Each bringing with it traditions, rituals, joys and special moments.
There are the little things-finding the last hot toy on the shelf or exchanging heartfelt good wishes with strangers on the street. We can't help you with those events, but we can guide you to choral concerts, pageants, tree- and menorah-lighting ceremonies and other holiday events.
On the next several pages, you'll find musical happenings, festivals, plays and light displays. It's a daunting array of options, so along with the comprehensive listings, we'll highlight a seasonal event that caught our eye for each of the 31 days of December. For variety's sake, we'll mix it up a bit, because seeing the "Nutcracker" every night would get kind of tedious (although you probably could if so inclined). It's not a "best of" list, just some suggestions for when you're feeling a little too harried to sift through the possibilities. Just think of it as a little something extra for you from Weekend in this season of giving.
And, as always, events listed are free unless otherwise noted.
