You Only Look as Good as Your Car

You pay serious attention to what you wear and how you look, but when you're on the road, it's your car that creates that all-important first impression. So, don't let that old econobox cramp your style. It doesn't have to cost a fortune to turn your automotive purchase into a fashion statement, and besides, you're worth it.
The following is our selection of "image cars." All are stylish and sporty and suitable only for two passengers. You can't carry anything home from IKEA in them. And you really don't want to have an encounter with an Expedition while driving one. But if you want to smile every time you drive, and look really good every moment you're in, around or approaching your car, these three vehicles are guaranteed to do the trick, all for less than $50,000.
Since this is more an aesthetic assessment than a buyer's guide, I'll refrain from comments about power-to-weight ratio and heel-and-toe downshifts. And in case you're wondering whether members of the opposite sex are more likely to look at you in a Boxster than a Camry, the answer is yes. But you really don't want someone who just wants you for your car, do you?
