There's plenty of promise out there for a flavorful holiday season and we like what we've seen. This list isn't complete, but it does provide for all palates and sizes of wallet. Please check back because we will be adding locations as time goes on.

New Year's Eve   |  New Year's Day

NEW YEAR'S EVE

15 ria: The first seating will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for $45 per person. The second starts at 9 p.m. and is $75 per person (champagne toast and party favors included). Call 202/742-0015.

1789: Diners will ring in the new year with noisemakers, balloons, hats, streamers, beads and a midnight champagne toast. New Year's Eve dinner is served from 5 to 11 p.m. Call 202/965-1789.

Cafe Atlantico: A Nuevo Latino-style New Year's Eve at Cafe Atlantico begins with an early four-course dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. for $45 per person (includes a glass of Spanish cava). A later seating, from 8 to 10 p.m., is a five-course dinner for $85 per person and includes a traditional daiquiri of lime juice and Dominican rum. Live entertainment begins at 10 and features the return of Juan & Fausto -- the original DJs from Cafe Atlantico's former dancing days in Adams Morgan. Call 201/393-0812.

eCiti: Ring in the new year with a four-course dinner, dancing, champagne toast and balloon drop at midnight. The early dinner seating starts at 5:30 p.m. and costs $55 per person, including tax and gratuity. The late seating starts at 8:30 and costs $115 per person (including tax and gratuity, party favors, champagne toast and dancing). Black tie is optional. Call 703/760-9000.

Il Cigno: Between 5:30 and 6 p.m., a four-course dinner will be served for $50 per person. A five-course dinner begins at 9 p.m. and includes a glass of champagne, DJ and dancing for $75. Call 703/471-0121.

Jaleo: Party favors, good luck grapes, a midnight toast and unlimited tapas are on the agenda (for $69.95 per person) at both the downtown and Bethesda branches. The fixed-price seating begins at 9 p.m. Otherwise, from 5 to 8 p.m., the menu is a la carte. Call 202/628-7949 or 301/913-0003.

Marcel's: As a convenience to Kennedy Center patrons, Marcel's will offer an early seating from 5 to 7 p.m. for $85 per person. The second seating begins at 7:30 and is a five-course dinner with champagne toast for $165. Live music from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m. will be provided by pianist Alex Jenkins and a guest quartet. Reservations require a credit card guarantee. Cancellations must be made by 10 a.m. Dec. 28 or credit cards will be charged in full. Complimentary dinner valet parking is available. Mimi's: Singing servers, champagne and party favors complement these two seatings. A four-course dinner will be served beginning at 7 p.m. for $40; a five-courser for $75 will start at 10 p.m. Call 202/464-6464.

Ortanique: Early seatings take place at 5:30, 6 or 6:30 p.m. Dinner is five courses and includes a complimentary glass of champagne and a ticket to the VIP Party in the Oasis Lounge for $125. Dinner by itself is $85. The late seatings are at 9, 9:30 and 10. Dinner is five courses and includes a complimentary glass of champagne and a ticket to the VIP Party in the Oasis Lounge for $140 per person. (Just dinner is $100). Call 202/393-0935.

Seasons (at the Four Seasons Hotel): An Evening in Paris will be the theme of this year's New Year's Eve event. The price of the six-course dinner, including champagne toast, is $125 per person. Call 202/944-2000.

Signatures: A "global" menu that combines the cuisines of America and Japan will be served for $95 per person (or $135 when paired with wine) beginning at 8 p.m. A jazz band will provide the music. Valet parking for the evening is complimentary. Jackets are suggested for male patrons. Call 202/628-5900.

Willard Room: For $295 per person (this includes parking, tax and gratuity), enjoy a seven-course feast, a bottle of champagne per couple, live music and dancing throughout the night. The extravaganza begins at 8 p.m. and reservations are required. Call 202/637-7440.

Zola: The first set of seating times includes reservations for 6, 6:15 and 6:30 p.m., with dinner (including a glass of champagne on arrival) priced at $75 per person. The second set of seatings are for 9, 9:15 and 9:30 p.m. Priced at $125 per person, this option includes a glass of champagne on arrival and an invitation to an after-dinner party in the Ultra Room, above the International Spy Museum. The party begins at 10:30 p.m., with swing band and cash bar and complimentary champagne toast at midnight. Call 202/654-0999.
