Guidelines for Submitting Events

Thank you for contacting us about submitting your event.

These guidelines apply only for submitting events to the Entertainment Guide on washingtonpost.com. (If you would like to have an event published in The Washington Post newspaper, you will need to contact the newspaper separately. The main number for The Washington Post newspaper is 202/334-6000. The newspaper publishes many calendars of community events, including those in weekly community sections, the Extras.)

The Entertainment Guide cannot include every event that is sent to us. We welcome community submissions, but we only enter entertainment events, focusing on events at major venues.

The earlier you send in your event, the easier it is for us to include it. It is best to send information at least three weeks in advance. We prioritize events by chronological order and venue; for example, we would include a Broadway musical on a national tour to the Kennedy Center before we would enter a preschool storytime at a library.

In order to have information published on our site, your press release must include:

  • Name of the event
  • Location, with complete street address including ZIP code
  • Dates and times
  • Price(s)
  • A detailed description of the event
  • Phone number for the public to call for more information
  • Phone number for our staff to call for more information

To submit an event:

  • E-mail to events@washingtonpost.com

  • Fax to 703/469-2995
If you send a fax, please add a cover sheet addressed to Calendar Events.

  • Mail to Calendar Events, washingtonpost.com, 1515 N. Courthouse Rd., Arlington, VA, 22201
