In the Central African country of Sudan, death and destruction
take place on many levels. A civil war has pitted the largely Arab northern
half of the country against the black African south on and off for 40 years.
Famine periodically visits various parts of the south. And
individual tribes often do battle over cattle and turf, their most valued possesions. Early this year,
leaders of the Dinka and Nuer tribes sought to alleviate suffering at the
most basic level ... by forging a tribal peace.
