KENSINGTON PALACE
Princess Diana's residence since her marriage to Charles. Several other members of the royal family have apartments in the palace; Queen Victoria was born there in 1819.

• Diana's coffin will be brought to the palace tonight.

• Funeral procession leaves 9:08 a.m. (4:08 a.m. EDT) Saturday.

ROYAL ALBERT HALL
Concert hall named after Queen Victoria's husband.

ALBERT MEMORIAL
A neo-Gothic memorial housing a 14-foot bronze figure of the Prince Consort (1819-61), husband of Queen Victoria.

HYDE PARK

• Two giant TV screens will show the funeral procession and service.

PARK LANE
Upscale street with many hotels, where Dodi Fayed, Diana's boyfriend, had an apartment.

WELLINGTON ARCH
Named after the Duke of Wellington who helped defeat Napoleon's army in the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.

BUCKINGHAM PALACE
London residence of the British monarchs since 1837. Queen Elizabeth and her immediate family live there.

ST. JAMES'S PALACE
Prince Charles has his offices and London living quarters there. The palace served as the official London residence of the British sovereign until Queen Victoria moved the royal residence to Buckingham Palace. The British court is still officially known as "The Court of St. James's."

CLARENCE HOUSE
One of several residential buildings that make up St. James's Palace. It is the residence of the queen mother. Diana lived here during her engagement to Charles.

MARLBOROUGH ROAD/MALL

• 5:26 a.m. EDT: Five representatives each from 110 charitable organizations join procession here.

HORSE GUARDS
Once the tournament grounds of King Henry VIII.

WESTMINSTER ABBEY
Britain's national church, where almost all sovereigns have been crowned since William the Conqueror in 1066. The last coronation in the Gothic abbey was that of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. It has been the site of many royal weddings and funerals as well as state funerals, including that of Sir Winston Churchill in 1965. The abbey is the final resting place of many kings and queens, including Queen Elizabeth I and her rival, Mary Queen of Scots.

  • 5:15: VIPs arrive at abbey
  • 5:35: Spencer family arrives
  • 5:40: Royal family arrives
  • 5:50: Senior members of royal family arrive
  • 5:55: Coffin arrives
  • 6:00: Funeral service begins
  • 6:50: Service ends

FROM LONDON TO THE FAMILY CHAPEL

• From Westminster Abbey, a hearse will take Diana's coffin to Great Brington, 77 miles northwest of London. She will be will be buried on an island on the grounds of the family's stately home, Althorp, where Diana grew up.
