Saudi millionaire Osama bin Laden is the leading suspect in
bombings at American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. In a series of fatwas, or religious edicts, faxed to the outside world from his hideout in Afghanistan, bin Laden called for attacks on the United States and Israel and is believed by officials to have had militants in place in Somalia, Sudan and Kenya.
