Captain_______distinguished himself by heroism while participating in aerial flight as an F-117A Stealth Fighter Pilot over Baghdad, Iraq, on 17 January 1991. On that date, Captain flew an F-117A as Thunder 16, part of the fourteen-ship second wave of coordinated attacks on high value targets in Iraq. With anti-aircraft artillery fire erupting above and below his aircraft, Captain_______completely disregarded his personal safety and descended his then unproven F-117A aircraft further into the heart of the intense integrated air defense environment. Precisely on time, he attacked the Maidan Square Telecommunications Facility. He accurately guided his 2000 pound weapon to a direct hit on the center of the facility. He then continued through the intense ground fire to the North Tali Military Headquarters, attacking this facility and scoring another direct hit. These courageous and timely attacks into an area of Iraq that was outside the capabilities of all other coalition forces severely degraded command, control, and communications throughout the country. On that date, Major_______flew as part of the second wave of coordinated attacks on high value targets in Iraq. With antiaircraft fire erupting all around his aircraft, Major_______completely disregarded his personal safety and descended into the heart of intense ground fire. he scored a direct hit on the Baghdad Air Defense Operations Headquarters at Taji. This courageous and timely attack severely disrupted Iraqi Air Force command and control communications throughout the country, gaining tremendous tactical advantage by degrading the enemy's ability to control his forces and clearing the way for further attacks by the Coalition. With antiaircraft fire erupting all around his aircraft, Major completely disregarded his personal safety and continued his attack with his then unproven F-117A aircraft. Precisely on time, he attacked the Baghdad Iraqi Air Force Headquarters, scoring a direct hit and destroying the interior of the building. He continued through the dense ground fire to strike and demolish the Salmon Pak Intercept Operations Center. Captain _______ descended his aircraft into intense ground fire, attacking the hardened aircraft shelter at Balad Airfield. he then proceeded through a hail of bullets to the heart of the enemy's capital city and attacked the Ministry of Military Industry. Once again he encountered determined enemy resistance in the form of intense 23 and 57 millimeter antiaircraft fire. This courageous and timely attack substantially aided the allied campaign to destroy the Iraqi Air Force on the ground and further destroyed the Headquarters of the military infrastructure and a national symbol, gaining significant tactical advantage.
