David Hoffman's Biography
David Hoffman is the Moscow correspondent of The
Washington Post.
Hoffman joined the Post staff as a general assignment reporter in 1982.
His beats have included covering the White House during the Reagan and
Bush presidencies, and coverage of superpower diplomacy at the State Department.
From 1992 to 1994, he was Jerusalem correspondent for The Post. In 1994-95, he studied at St. Anthony's College, Oxford, England, in
preparation for his Russia assignment.
Before coming to The Post he worked for the News Journal Newspapers
in Wilmington, Del., and the Capitol Hill News Service until leaving
the following year for the Washington bureau of Knight-Ridder Newspapers.
In 1985, Hoffman received the Aldo Beckman Award for White House
Correspondents and the Merriman Smith Award for deadline coverage of the
President.
Born in Palo Alto, California, Hoffman attended the University of Delaware.
