dotThe U.S. Air Force has a new and improved weapon to destroy targets. It's a laser-guided bomb that was not used in the Persian Gulf War. It is unique because it has the capability of penetrating deep into underground bunkers.
dotThe F-15E military jet carries the "bunker buster" on the outside under its belly. A laser is locked on a target and the bomb is launched. As it hits the target, the bomb penetrates deep into the ground, but does not detonate until it reaches the designated floor of the bunker.
dotThe U.S. Air Force says these bombs were developed because the United States needed weapons that could better attack underground bunkers.
