The 21-year-old King Hussein, discounting a report of his assassination, arrives to open the newly elected Jordanian parliament and hands his message to Prime Minister Ibrahim Hashem for reading. Parliament was established and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was formed during the 30-year rule of Hussein's grandfather King Abdullah.
