Starbite of the week:
Jupiter, the planet of expansion and luck has been retrograde since December 2002. That has made our actions a bit outrageous and out of control. Now that Jupiter redirected on April 4, we can now move forward in a positive direction. The area of opportunity and ease all depends on where Jupiter sits in your own personal chart and what angles it makes to other planets in your chart. So where is Jupiter in your chart?
And now let’s hear what you have to say. Please include your birthdate, time and place for all astrology questions. And, if you have any feedback on some of my past answers, please send them along!
Virginia: Madame L.,
I'm the April Fools baby you responded to in your column last week. I just wanted to thank you. It had has been a difficult few weeks, and your choosing my question to respond to -- along with the upbeat report --
made my evening.
Charlene Lichtenstein: I am so glad.
Thank you for your note and best of good luck to you in the coming months.
Somewhere, USA: When "Compatible" Doesn't Play Out that Way: Hi, Charlene. I always enjoy your chats and appreciate help you've given me before. I have a question about a dating situation that never got out of the gate -- if you have some insights I would love to hear them!
Last November, I met a great guy with whom things initially seemed to click. Nonetheless, things fell apart after a few dates and I was left scratching my head, but I moved along. Some weeks later when it was pretty much out of my system, an astrologer told me that we were intensely compatible:
We both have Mars in Taurus
We both have Venus in Leo
He's a Leo sun and I have Leo rising
He has Cancer rising; I have Capricorn moon.
The leftovers: I have a Gemini sun; he has a Scorpio moon.
She (the astrologer) was very enthusiastic and encouraged me to try and contact him again in February. I did, and the message was clear: Thanks, but No Chemistry.
Any thoughts on how there can be so much astrological "chemistry" and yet things still don't gel? Any suggestions about what I should (or should not!) do at this point?
June 19, 1962

Charlene Lichtenstein: Thank you for the astrological information and the great question. There is astrological compatibility and that je ne sais quois, indefinable physical chemistry that may or may not play itself out of the chart.
However, the thing that struck me from both of your charts are those venuses in leo. Venus in Leo just loooves to be loved and must be the center of attention. How can you get two people together who each want to be adored even more than they want to do the adoring? Tough to do. Also both of them have stubborn slow moving mars in Taurus – it takes a bit to get them to move on anything. So we have a bit of a standoff here on a couple of levels. You both have secretive, but very compatible moons – yours in cap and his in scorpio. You may appear to be emotionally distant but he understands that because he can be emotionally secretive. So here both of you are, appearing to be cool and distant emotionally (a façade for both of you btw) and each requiring a great deal of attention and slow to move to take action. Astrological chemistry? Perhaps, but it would take work and a great deal of understanding.
Washington, D.C.: Hi Charlene,
I've studied astrology on my own for several years, but right now, I need an objective opinion. My company recently had layoffs, and although I'm still here as a writer, I'm miserable in the corporate world. Is this a good time to strike out on my own as a voice-over talent, which I did in a different city? Should I think about moving to another city?
Thanks so much, C
Mount Holly, NJ
Charlene Lichtenstein: You have sun in pisces, moon in aries, mercury in aquarius venus in pisces and mars in aquarius. Possibly taurus rising which places aquarius in the cusp of your 10th house of career.
Generally you are very creative and intuitive. You are out front in your emotions and can be very romantic. When you take action it is from a unique perspective and have a need to reach and help many people at once.
With Aquarius on the top of your chart you may be a bit of a crusader and should gravitate to "electronics" such as television and radio. SO voice overs really fall under that umbrella quite nicely.
As mars, the planet of action crosses the top of your chart on April 22, it would be a great time to put out feelers in your career. So start some exploring while the energy is hot. But remember too that Neptune is in your 10th house now - planet of illusions and delusions. It may sound great but be sure to read the fine print! As mars conjuncts neptune in June, all deception should be uncovered.
Timing is everything!
So in short - your voice over idea will mesh nicely with your chart. Write to me with some cities in mind and we can do a relocation chart to see which ones may be the best for you.
Potomac, Md.: Ms. Lichtenstein,
I won't be able to submit during the regular discussion but I really hope you will consider this request. I was terribly unhappy at my job so I quit after six years of working there. Could you please tell me if a new job is in the near or far future for me? Born 8/30/64, 10:15pm, Falls Church, VA. Thank you!
Charlene Lichtenstein: You have sun in virgo, mercury in virgo and mars in cancer. You are generally rather careful and precise and have a very clear, matter of fact way of communicating. Ah, but with that emotional mars in cancer, I can see how you would react with your heart and not with your practical virgo head!
Possibly taurus rising which places aquarius on the top of your chart. As mars enters your career sector on April 22, your should pour on the energy. But just as I mentioned in the prior question = Neptune will cause some naive illusions there so wait until no nonsense mars conjuncts it in June when all deceptions are uncovered. In the meantime, get cracking on a new job search and read the fine print and ask pointed questions and listen for the answers!
Washington, D.C.: Dear Charlene,
You answer so many questions from your readers about compatibility and relationships, I was wondering whether you believe in the romantic concept of a soulmate, of "one true love" - or do you think that love is more or less determined by the compatibility of the parties' astrological charts? Thanks!
Charlene Lichtenstein: I don't believe in one true love but I do think that we may find ourselves well suited to people that may not be clearly evident from looking at our charts in a topline form (venus, moon and 7th house). These are standard methods, which I use on this show, but I really like to look at the entire chart to see what is lacking (and so what we search for to feel complete) and where we are in our own personal growth (progressed chart). ALso, when we have found someone, I like to run a composite chart - blend the two charts together - so see how happy a combo it really is.
Washington, D.C.: Hello Madame Lichtenstein,
I have been having a bit of a string of bad luck in many areas. Do you see any changes coming up for me?
Charlene Lichtenstein: Bad luck in which sectors? Let me see - you have sun and mercury in cancer, venus in gemini, mars in sagittarius and possibly virgo/libra rising.
I see stress in career caused by saturn moving into your 10th house. You will have some challenges and lessons that you need to learn in your professional ascent. I see neptune, the planet of illusions and foggy thinking in your relationship area. Did you give your heart to someone unworthy? This shall pass...
You may begin to see some improvement soon as Jupiter the planet of luck and expansion goes direct (did on APril 4) in your area of "hidden things". Nothing can hit you by surprise anymore. And you may find some unexpected luck from a secret source.
Rutherford, N.J.: Greeting Madam Charlene !
Could you please have a look at my stars and tell me why am I so depressed these days and so fearful about my future. Everything seems to be working against me and I can't have peace in spite of good job and no money concerns. I live alone though after going through messy divorce which got settled Nov, 2002 after separation since August 2000. Please tell me when can I have good relationship again and peace of mind. My details
Male-July 23rd, 1969, 2:10pm at Delhi, India
Best regards and thanks a lot for your time.
Charlene Lichtenstein: Let's see - you have sun in cancer, mercury in leo, venus in gemini and mars in sagittarius. Possibly scorpio rising for your NJ location.
You are generally very emotional and sensitive and very caring about others. You have a very dramatic and theatrical communication style and can be flirtatious in love. You also need a mental connection with a partner - that is where the spark is for you. You are a fair and honest fighter and can disarm someone with your good humor.
I see that saturn, the planet of problems and stress is hovering in your 8th house. That is an interesting area because it involves intimacy and also deep psychological issues. You may feel depressed or stressed and don't know why. Saturn will soon move from that area to your 9th house which is the law, travel and higher learning. That will occur in early June.
It is probable that the divorce was stressful and that with saturn you had to worker even harder to overcome problems in the process. It can leave you feeling spent.
But I see that dissipating soon and you may feel like a burden has been lifted. Wait until June and let me know if I am correct.

Will Domestic Violence used through apathetic courts and law enforcement be reduced in next six months?
Will Appellate Court reverse trial court decisions?
Charlene Lichtenstein: Does this question involve you specifically or is this a global issue?
I ask because if you needed timing we can look at specific dates to check for void of course moons, eclipses and retro mercury - all should be avoided to reduce the possibility of misunderstanding.
Let me know.

This year I've dated a couple of men that were interesting but nothing serious. I'm wondering if I'll ever meet someone to marry. Can you offer me any insights about my romantic future? What type of person would be most compatible with my chart?
Charlene Lichtenstein: You have sun in leo, moon (emotions) in sag and venus (love) in virgo. You are generous, love to be the center of attention and very confident. Emotionally you are open and honest and a bit disarming! And with your venus in prim and precise virgo, you can be a bit picky in love (and why not?). Possibly scorpio rising which places steadfast and sensuous taurus on your 7th house of relationships.
Well first off of course you will find someone and get married! That is, if you want it and go out and seek it. We make our future. Astrology gives us the timing.
I think earth signs should be good for you (venus earth signs that is) and quite possibly a fire sign. Timing? Things turn optimistic around APril 21 as the sun enters your 7th house. Venus, the plant of love, enters that sector around mid-May. Lots of positive energy so get out there and look! Where? Try virgo type things like libraries, volunteering, teaching or learning (take a class!)etc. Big groups, organizations and friends since virgo is on the cusp of your 11th house.
Try it and get back to me in a few months!
Arlington, Va.: I am currently feeling restless and bored and am wondering whether making a huge change in my life is the right decision. I recently came to terms with the end of a 10 year relationship and though we are still friends, it's difficult to know what to do. Any insights?
Born: Fairfax, Va.
Charlene Lichtenstein: Hmmm. What type of change?
You have sun and venus in virgo and moon in leo. Mars in aquarius and possibly aquarius rising. Basically you are not one for instigating big big changes because Virgos are earth signs. Yet you go with the flow of change well because virgo is mutable. You need an emotional cheering section and should find someone who can give you the emotional support you desperately need. Yet you can also be a bit picky in love and can be very earthy if given a chance to be so. Venus in Virgo is like an onion that has many layers and gets sweeter as you get to the core.
I see a boost in relationships as Jupiter redirects on APril 4. Expect things to expand and expect some lucky breaks there. And you have a couple of years to enjoy it!
I suggest that you attack creative outlets, take an art class and struggle with the muse. Mars moves into your first house on April 22nd and new ideas will sprout and new people will move into your life and make things very interesting. Get out there and meet and greet.
Washington, D.C.: Hi Charlene,
Love the weekly column! Here's my question: Things are getting shaken up in my life lately, in a good way, and I'd like to know where to best direct my energies. Work, art projects, social situations? It's getting overwhelming (although fun), and I'd like to know what to look forward to.
(31 October 1977, Waynesboro, Va, 1:44 am)
Charlene Lichtenstein: Dear BB,
Thanks! So let's see - you have sun in scorpio, mercury in scorpio, venus in libra and mars in leo. Generally you are intense and passionate with a keen strategic sense and sharp mind. You are flirtatious in love and are attracted to attractive people. You can charm just about anyone! You are expansive and dramatic when you take action and may gravitate to performing or the arts.
Possibly virgo rising which places active mars in your 5th house of fun and creativity. The past few weeks might have involved many creative and fun activities. As mars moves into your 6th house on APril 22, you may find yourself becoming busier at work and with day to day tasks. Arguably not as much fun but necessary.... You will also be able to clear off your desk which I think you need right now.
Jupiter has been retrograde and has just redirected in your 12th house of hidden things. All of a sudden help appears from secret places and unexpected actions.
Saturn, planet of stress and problems is at the top of your chart - it can indicate great tasks in your long term professional plans. WOrk hard and succeed further than you ever thought possible.
So I suggest that you soon turn your attention to the termite things in life and clear out your in box. Work with any difficult career issues and be prepared to face a bit of stress there. Lucky and happy surprises come from out of the blue. Volunteer for a charitable cause and get involved in karmic things to boost your luck. It will payoff.
Hope that helps!
Billings, Mont.: Hi
I was born: 11/10/66 2:49pm 46N55 98W42. I'm wondering about career/professional future. I see three paths: stay with the job I'm at (manager of retail), look for something else or start my own business. Any advice?
PK the Bookeemonster
Charlene Lichtenstein: Okay - you have sun in Scorpio, mercury in sag, venus in scorpio and mars in virgo. Possibly pisces rising which places sag at the top of your chart in your career sector.
Sag on the 10th house needs freedom, expansion and independence so you should have a career that does not tie you down to a desk and someone else's set of rules. Now, you can work for someone else and be happy, but they would need to trust you and give you opportunities to expand, travel, make your own decisions and not bind you with restrictive sets of rules.
Pluto, planet of change and volcanic transformation is in your 10th house now so change here is a given. But it may not be your decision! Pluto brings change where change is needed but can make us feel a bit uneasy about it.
Pluto is currently retrograde so I wouldn't institute any changes until at least it redirects. (end of August this time around) But definitely send out feelers and see if there are things that give you what you need for your sag on the 10th house configuration.
Manassas, Va.: Stay put or leave a frustrating job situation?
Born 9-11-66, 8:43 am
Albuquerque, New Mexico
Charlene Lichtenstein: Sun in virgo, mars in leo and possibly libra rising placing cancer on your 10th house of career, pisces on your 6th house of the day to day job.
Neptune, the planet of delusions, is in your 6th house. There is something going on here that you are unaware of. It can also mean that you are conjuring up all sorts of fanciful scenarios that may not exist in reality.
Stay put until you can find a career that fulfills that cancerian aspect of your chart - a career where you can feel needed, possibly work with children or with a small family group. Where you can have a "place" or space that feels like home. Something about the home? Or cooking? Or families? All great areas for you.
Charlene Lichtenstein: Here is the relocation chart that I could not get to last week - Washington, D.C.: I'm back with time and place of birth for relocation from Washington, D.C. to Miami, Florida in the spring question. Positive? Negative? Born 8/11/65, in Franklin, Pa., 4:30 p.m. Thanks!
I ran your natal chart for Franklin, PA, a chart for Washington Dc and one for Miami, Florida. What I see is that your chart for DC and Miami are much more similar than your birth chart for Pennsylvania. Your birth chart has Sagittarius rising, Capricorn on the cusp of your 2nd house of money and your five closely clustered planets spread out over two houses – the 9th (international travel and higher education) and the 8th (intimacy and deep psychological issues). Your birth chart indicates more worries about money – harder to come by – and more emotional issues having to do with money and things that you value and a bit more luck in relationships (Jupiter in the 7th).
Obviously (to me) your life in PA is very different and you behave differently than your life in DC. In DC there is less concern about how you communicate and how you handle money. With Cap rising in DC and FL there is more stress on developing new things and new directions. You have a powerful stellium (more than three planets in one house) in the 8th house in DC and FL; Intense interest in intimacy issues and psychology. Other people’s money, sex, death, taxes. Read more on the 8th house – it will resonate. Mars is on the top of your chart showing great energy directed into your higher education (did you study in DC?) or in meeting international people. Luck in your job (Jupiter moves to the 6th house) and still an emotional tie to money and values. (moon in the 2nd).
Now, in Miami, your relocated chart is similar to DC with some important differences. Mars moves for the 9th to the 10th house (your career) and I see much more energy directed into professional matters or in your public persona and status in the community. Moon moves from the 2nd to the 1st house – more emotional connection to new things, new people.
Both DC and FL have excellent aspects to the top of the chart from lucky Jupiter – DC slightly better though. Great connection with what you “do” to where you want to go. Great energy and success. You do not have this in your PA chart. Your PA chart was more in harmony emotionally with who you were while your DC and FL charts indicate more purposeful activity and less emotion. A maturation?
In sum, I see you adapting nicely to Miami since the energy surrounding you there is very similar to what you have experienced in DC (with the aforementioned differences). I hope this helps.
Charlene Lichtenstein: We have so many great questions left but have run out of time! Thank you all. For those who I couldn't get to, please try again next week.
I will have a show every Monday in April at 6pm
Until April 14 at 6p, happy stargazing!
