Four maps and a Post story give important information on business and population trends in Washington-area counties and cities during the 1990s.

Population - Washington's outer ring of suburbs has become the engine of population growth in the region, according to Census Bureau figures showing changes between 1990 and 1997.
Population and Ethnicity - Map shows the population, rate of growth and racial breakdown for each local county and city, from 1990 to 1996.
Businesses - Map shows 1995 Census data for the number of some types of businesses, such as banks and restaurants, in each local county and city.
Other Information - Map shows unemployment rate, per capita income, federal grant money and percentage of farmland in each local county and city, between 1992 and 1996.
