Montgomery
The graphs show reported crime rates in this suburb and an overall crime rate for the metropolitan area suburbs. Violent crimes include homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault. Property crimes include burglary, larceny and car theft. The rates are calculated by dividing into an area's annual population the number of crimes that local police departments reported to the FBI from 1977-97.

Criminologists caution that different departments may classify crimes differently, making comparisons difficult. Moreover, the rates don't include crimes not reported by victims or observed by police.
