An array of competitive sports programs for adult residents, ages 21 and older, are offered throughout the District. These programs and opportunities are sponsored by the agency's Adult Sports Office, for the purpose of reinforcing cooperative interaction and promotion of physical fitness.
The Adult Sports Office also issues permits for adult sports activities for all playing fields under the jurisdiction of the Department of Recreation and Parks and the National Parks Service.
Upon request, the office will arrange for experts and officials of various sports to conduct rule interpretations and skill clinics for community groups and players in organized leagues.

MAYOR BARRY'S LATE NITE ROUNDBALL
The Mayor's Late Nite Roundball League provides young adults, ages 18 and over, with opportunities to play organized team basketball in the spring and summer. League play runs from June 3 - July 29, at Benning Stoddert, Fort Davis, Langdon Park and Hine Recreation centers. The cost is $300 per team.
HOOPS AFTER DARK
Five-on-Five team basketball for ages 18 to 25 at Evans Recreation Center, from June 4 - July 30. Cost $150 per team.
TOUCH FOOTBALL
Teams are organized for seven man, two-hand touch football leagues through the Adult Sports Office. Each team will play a six-game schedule starting the third week in March. A single game elimination tournament of champions is hosted at the end of the season for league winners. The franchise fee is $300 per team.
WOMEN'S FAST-PITCH SOFTBALL
The Department's Adult Sports Office sponsors the Anna Honabach Classic Women's Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament. The three-day tournament will be held April 25 through 27, at the Guy Mason Playing Field. The franchise fee is $150 per team.
SUMMER SOFTBALL
The Department organizes male, female and co-ed slow-pitch softball leagues, as well as male and female fast-pitch softball leagues. Each league starts the third week in May, with a tournament of champions being held at the end of the season for league winners. The franchise fee varies.
TENNIS
The Department of Recreation and Parks offers organized tennis instruction for adults from June through August. Group lessons for beginners and advanced players are available. The fee is $75 for six lessons.
VOLLEYBALL
The Adult Sports Office at the Department organizes competitive adult volleyball leagues. Leagues run Mondays through Saturdays, at neighborhood recreation centers. The franchise fee is $225 per team.
SLOW-PITCH SOFTBALL TOURNAMENTS
Adult softball tournaments are organized through the Department's Adult Sports Office. The day-long open tournaments at the Guy Mason Playing Field, hold co-ed, men's and women's slow-pitch softball games. The fee is $175 per team.
