The First Lady Plays Tennis
|
The first lady of the District of Columbia, Cora Masters Barry, has announced plans for the development of the Southeast Tennis/Learning Center, which will rise on the site of the Hart Tennis Courts in Southeast Washington. Construction of the year-round facility is being guided by the Recreation Wish List Committee of Washington, a non-profit organization founded by Mrs. Barry to inspire greater private-sector support for public recreation in the District of Columbia. The new learning center will serve as a tennis instructional and development base for children and teens. A major feature will include the incorporation of academic and character enrichment programs, along with an activity agenda that families can enjoy together close to home. For more information about the Southeast Tennis Learning Center and for information about supporting the work of the Recreation Wish List Committee, call (202) 561-1117.
