    Residential Camps

    Camp Riverview, owned and maintained by the D.C. Department of Recreation and Parks, covers a 217-acre tract of land in Scotland, Maryland, 88 miles from Washington, D.C. The co-ed camp serves 150 youngsters, ages 8 to 13, per session. Campers must submit a completed physical examination form as part of the registration process, along with a $75 non-refundable fee for a one-week session. The Department will coordinate a physical examination at no cost to the camper, and provide transportation to and from Camp Riverview.

    During the eight, one-week sessions, campers will experience: hiking; arts and crafts; swimming; nature study; bicycling; fishing; sports; crabbing; camp fires; canoeing; archery; movies; theme days; talent shows; and flag raising. Registration begins May 4, 1998. Applications can be picked up weekdays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Camping Office, 1230 Taylor St., N.W., Room 204. Telephone: 576-6298.
